Named after Jāņi, the Latvian midsummer feast, this is a celebration piece: round and barrel beads of butterscotch and milky white Baltic amber, punctuated with red Swarovski crystals and small gold-plated silver spacers, lead to a large egg-shaped butterscotch pendant almost 5 cm long. Festive, generous and unmistakably Baltic. Its milky opacity comes from countless microscopic air bubbles sealed in the resin – a quality collectors prize above all in Baltic amber. Georgs Romulis is a Riga amber jewellery house whose knowledge has been passed through the family from generation to generation. The maker began learning amber processing from his father at the age of seven, building contemporary collections on techniques acquired in childhood. The work combines Baltic amber and high-quality jewellery materials with a modern approach to form and wearability. New ideas are developed through regular study of international jewellery exhibitions and participation with the house's own collections. The purpose is to move amber beyond the familiar souvenir image and reveal the natural beauty, variation, and strength hidden inside each piece. Bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and pendants preserve the individual colour, clouding, and translucency of the material rather than disguising it.
