Handmade porcelain vessels
cerannic
Tukums, Latvia
cerannic is the porcelain studio of Annija Kanska in Tukums. After years in advertising, she began working with clay around the start of the pandemic and found in porcelain a slower, more deliberate rhythm. The brand is built on the idea of unhurried living: Kanska wants a cup to create a quiet pause around morning coffee or evening tea. Her porcelain cups are made to order in small runs and decorated across collections of checks, lines, brushstrokes, natural motifs, dots, and freer graffiti-like marks. Porcelain is both delicate and strong, and it records haste: rushed handling can cause a piece to fail. Attention, calm, and respect for the material are therefore not styling, but part of the making process.
